Audiometric & Hearing Protection Screening/Testing (Hearing Test)

Audiology Testing for workers who are exposed to excessive noise resulting in potential hearing loss. This testing consists of measuring various hearing thresholds at several different Hz frequencies. Noise exposure increases hearing thresholds, resulting in threshold shifts toward higher values. The rule of thumb is higher values mean poorer hearing.

It is best that new workers are always tested to establish a personal Hz baseline, followed by regular checkups to compare the baselines. After that, it’s easy to detect if any ongoing damage is occurring so the client can make the appropriate changes to the work environment.

Hearing Protection Fit Test

xact Fit™ by HexArmor® delivers one of the most robust and efficient fit-testing systems on the market – helping you understand exactly how much protection you’re receiving from your Hearing Protection Device, regardless of brand or model. Using the Real Ear Attenuation at Threshold (REAT), users undergo a series of tests where they must determine their Hearing Threshold score, both with and without hearing protection. This is the lowest volume at which a sound can be detected, and it is different for every person. The difference between the two scores determines their Personal Attenuation Rating (PAR), which represents the amount of protection they are receiving based on how they fit their earplug. Testing can be done here at our faculty, or we can provide on site testing.

Test Method: Real Ear Attenuation at Threshold (REAT)
